TEUTOPOLIS, IL - Representatives of Ameren Illinois Utilities'
Act of Energy Business Program announced Tick Tock Energy Inc. as
the Program Ally of the Quarter for the lighting upgrade project
completed for the Hitachi Metals Automotive Components USA, LLC
facility in Effingham, Ill.
Tick Tock Energy, based in the central Illinois community of
Teutopolis, was selected as the Program Ally for the first quarter
in 2009 for the project it completed in January with Hitachi Metals
Automotive Components (HMAC) that will save an estimated 414,000
kWh a year while reducing carbon emissions by over 200 tons.
The project involved a comprehensive energy-efficient upgrade to
the interior plant and exterior light fixtures. The lighting
electrical demand was lowered by 48 percent and the cost savings
HMAC will experience in the first year is over $35,000. Other
benefits to the client included a 75 percent increase in light
levels in most areas of the plant, over $20,000 utility incentive
through the Act on Energy Utility Incentive, and qualification for
an $87,000 EPACT Tax Incentive.
"We delivered a complete turn-key lighting project from
conception to implementation that helped boost plant light levels
and lower HMAC's operating costs, an important factor in
challenging economic times", said Energy Efficiency Specialist
Eric Pals of Tick Tock Energy.
"Lighting projects are one of the easiest ways for
businesses to cut electricity costs. A properly executed lighting
project will increase profits, reduce energy use, and improve
employee productivity through brighter lighting, and deliver a
strong return on investment", added Pals.
Tick Tock Energy also recognizes the benefits that such projects
have on the community and environment. Energy-efficiency lowers the
demand for traditional fossil fuels which addresses a multitude of
environmental issues.
"Lighting projects are beneficial to the community because
they reduce the amount of pollution produced by traditional
sources. Also, these types of projects can give a business an edge
over their competitors. Stronger businesses equal a stronger
community", said Pals.
Alex Hagler, engineering manager with HMAC, was pleased with the
quality of work performed by Tick Tock Energy.
"We never had to accommodate their schedule. They made the
project flow to accommodate our schedule", said Hagler, adding
everyone has been pleased with the results of the project.
Hagler also acknowledged Tick Tock Energy's professionalism when
working with the company.
The primary goal of Act of Energy Business Program is to reduce
electric energy usage by helping customers upgrade infrastructure
with newer, more energy efficient equipment. The Act on Energy
Business Program is evaluated by how much energy is saved, and a
company who exemplifies the spirit of the Act On Energy program is
recognized each quarter.
