Date Published: 8/25/2011 7:20:39 AM
On October 1st, 2011, homeowners and colleges are
opening their doors to people wanting to see renewable energy at
work. Five central Illinois projects built by Effingham's Tick Tock
Energy, Inc. are included on the annual free Illinois Solar Tour
organized by the Illinois Solar Energy Association (ISEA).
Houses, colleges, and farms on the tour will have hosts to
answer questions and literature on the benefits of solar
photovoltaic (PV) systems and wind turbines.
Projects include the Macari Residence in Shelbyville, the Meeker
Residence in Newton, the U of I Extension Building in Effingham, a
rental property on Race St. in Teutopolis, and Lake Land College in
Mattoon. The projects show off a wide range of technologies
from Bergey turbines and hybrid systems, to ground, roof, and
awning mounted solar arrays. Maps and information are
available at http://www.illinoissolar.org/tour.
