Senior Electrical / Solar Engineer

You will lead our engineering department, manage a small staff and outside consultants, and perform engineering work to keep up with our rapidly growing workload.  Ideally, you have a great mix of practical field electrical construction experience and engineering expertise, or quick to pick up new skills.  You understand electrical code, building electrical engineering principles, are detailed yet efficient in completing your work.  You’re a great leader, communicator, and team player.  If you don’t have solar experience, you’re dedicated to getting up-to-speed asap with our help!

In our small but fast-paced environment, you will provide key technical support to the sales team and support cost estimating for developing solar systems for residential, farm, and commercial segments.  We have installed systems to 700 kW and are developing 2 to 5 MW installations for large commercial/industrial facilities.  Battery-based systems with emergency generators are becoming common and you’ll be at the forefront of working with these systems.

Keen analytical skills, the ability to crunch numbers on a spreadsheet or other modeling tools required.   After jobs are sold, you’re adept at taking initial scope and plans and turning into final engineering documents for our project delivery team.   Under your leadership, our engineering department excels and allows our sales team to double revenue output by end of 2022 and triple results by end of 2023.

Tick Tock Energy is seeking a sales consultant to rapidly grow our success in the farm and agricultural market in Central and Southern Illinois. As a proven sales professional you understand the farm economy and have great local contacts and connections you can leverage for immediate impact. If you don’t have solar experience but understand consultive selling and solution development, we will provide training. If you have solar experience, that is better yet.

In addition to consultive selling, you understand farm economics, finance, and know a good investment when you see one. You understand financial statements and are savvy at explaining the financial benefits of solar to farmers which to many should see this as a “no brainer”. You understand cashflow, leasing and other financing strategies and options. On the technical side, electrical and construction related experience very beneficial.

Patience, persistence, perseverance, and a great attitude is required. You need sharp attention to detail and facilitate information sharing with the technical team to identify options and solutions that are right for the customer. You’re fine with rolling up your sleeves to get things done with respect to prepping sales proposals and presentations. You’re a proven hunter for new business, cultivator of relationships and strong at keeping customer connections leading to considerable referral and repeat business.

Day-to-day you’ll sell our roof, ground-mount, and tracker solar solutions to hog, dairy, grain, poultry, and other farm customers. Related agribusinesses are also opportunities. The average system size will range from 50 kW to 200 kW and some will include battery energy storage and emergency generators.

Solar Service Technician/Electrician

Tick Tock Energy, Inc. is seeking a Solar Service Technician, reporting to our Service Manager.  You will be responsible for performing preventative and reactive maintenance, systems commissioning, troubleshooting and general maintenance for clients’ solar and electrical assets.

In our small but fast-paced environment, you will manage time and resources to ensure clients are serviced promptly and efficiently.  Perform electrical troubleshooting, perform system inspections, support monitoring systems, adhere to safety procedures, contribute to process improvement, and innovation.

Must have strong communications skills, great customer service skills, be organized, be patient and have a strong understanding of safety.

Ideal candidate has Journeyman or Master Electrician skill level.  Should have good computer skills including the ability to use/learn electronics user interface for troubleshooting equipment and updating firmware.

CORE DUTIES

  1. Performs Solar Systems monitoring, troubleshooting, retrofitting, installation, and commissioning.
  2. Collects data, photos, and assists in the creation of field reports for appropriate company personnel and customers.
  3. Services Energy Storage Systems (ESS) for commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance
  4. Acts as technical resource to sales and other staff.
  5. Leads efforts for safe working practices.
  6. Processing warranty claims and communicating with manufacturers technical support.

RESULTS EXPECTED

  1. Quickly reduce and eventually eliminate our need to utilize subcontractors to perform service-related work.
  2. Become a key technical resource for our Sales and Project Management teams.
  3. If you have an electrical background but lack solar experience, you commit to becoming a solar expert utilizing the training we provide within 3 months and obtaining NABCEP certification within 18 months.
