13.2 kW (DC) Off-Grid Solar System with Batteries rural Sullivan, IL (SE of Decatur, IL)
This unique solar system located over 1/4th of mile from the nearest utility power lines is 100% off-grid. The 13.2 kW (DC) solar array consists of forty (40) Suniva 330 Watt modules which generate DC-electricity to charge eight (8) DEKA Unigy AGM gel-filled batteries. Four (4) Outback FLEXPower Four pre-wired inverter/chargers. The system includes a propane powered generator for additional backup. The solar array is forecast to produce over 19,000 kWh of electricity serving the diverse power loads of this off-grid home.
4.95 kW (DC) Solar AC-Coupled Battery Backup
This innovative installation features a small fifteen (15) panel solar array, one (1) SMA SB5000 inverter, one (1) Sunny Island 6048-US Off-Grid Manager, and two (2) BMZ EES 7.0 Lithium-Ion battery banks. The system included installation of an emergency loads panel used to power a sump pump and refrigerator. The system works with the utility grid daily and is also backed up by an emergency generator.
