Tick Tock Energy is a dedicated to helping our clients upgrade their lighting systems, install solar photovoltaic systems, wind turbines, and manage energy costs with energy submetering and energy consulting services.

We provide comprehensive turn-key service from conceptual project development through final project completion. Our goal is to help you lower your utility costs. We strive to make the energy retrofit process simple and easy for your organization.

Though we have diverse experience our primary areas of focus are currently:

Lighting Retrofits and Upgrades (REDUCE)
A quality lighting system provides a productive, visually pleasing, and safe working environment. Poor lighting can cost your organization more than just high energy bills. Our goal at Tick Tock Energy is to make sure your lighting system provides the appropriate level of light for the task while minimizing energy consumption.

Our lighting services include a comprehensive analysis of both interior and exterior lighting systems. Initially, our lighting survey and analysis report will show pre- and post- energy consumption, light levels, financial payback, and identify utility incentives, grants and certify projects for the EPACT tax incentive.

During the lighting survey phase we will identify if your current fixtures are best suited for a lighting upgrade or retrofit. We then procure the necessary lighting equipment, provide the installation labor, administer all utility incentives, and perform final EPACT tax certification as part our service.

Energy-Efficient Lighting Upgrade
A lighting upgrade involves replacing existing fixtures with new, energy-efficient light fixtures such as high-intensity fluorescent fixtures. Facilities that have older high intensity discharge (HID) lighting as often found in warehouses, industrial facilities, vehicle maintenance garages and others are prime candidates for a lighting upgrade. Installing new fixtures using fluorescent T5 or T8 lamps and electronic ballasts. In most cases, a one-for-one fixture replacement can offer at least 50% energy savings, boost light levels, lower the internal heat gain to the building space, and improve safety and worker productivity.

Energy-Efficient Lighting Retrofit
A fluorescent lighting retrofit involves removing the existing magnetic ballast, older lamps, and perhaps other components and replacing with new high-efficiency electronic ballast, new lower-wattage fluorescent T8 or T5 lamps and possibly adding an reflector to boost fixture efficiency and light output. Retrofitting older fixtures can often reduce the electricity required by each fixture typically from 30 to 60% while maintaining or improving existing light levels and light quality.

Skylights / Daylight Harvesting
Skylights are a powerful way to improve the look and feel of your facility and can boost your retails sales, employee or student productivity, and raise your property's value all while minimizing your electricity costs for lighting. Though this powerful strategy costs more upfront, the greater energy savings often provide the lowest life-cycle operating cost along with other benefits. If you're looking to sell your building in the future, this is a powerful to improve the look and feel of your facility.

Lighting Controls
Last one out, turn off the lights. We all know that saying, right? With occupancy sensors and controls you can stop worrying about the lights burning in your facility and impact on your electric bill. Nothing saves energy like OFF. It's often the most powerful, easy and over-looked energy conservation / energy management strategy that exists.

Exterior Lighting Upgrades
Traditional exterior lighting fixtures consume typically 50% more energy than new energy-efficient fluorescent T5 high output fixtures. They are night-sky friendly by focusing light toward the ground preventing excess glare and light pollution. New energy-efficient exterior lighting offers greater light output, cold-start capability, instant on / off capability, and provides high color rendering index (CRI). Green grass should be green at night and not "yellow" or "blue" which inefficient HID lighting often provides.

A Tick Tock Tip:
In facilities with high fixture density, reducing fixture count may be possible to eliminate fixtures.  A redesign of the light fixture layout can boost energy savings further. This approach may cost a little more but offer the greatest value to your bottom-line over time.

Renewable Wind and Solar Energy Systems (PRODUCE)

By generating clean renewable electricity via wind or solar equipment located at your business, school, farm or home you diversify your energy supply and become more energy independant. As you lower your energy use with energy-efficiency and energy management strategies, installing too much power generation may cost you money. Let Tick Tock optimize your investment dollars by evaluating your total facility energy needs and "right-sizing" a wind turbine or solar photovoltaic system to fit your needs.

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Energy Systems
Turn your rooftop into a green power plant by generating your own power. Solar PV is a great option for all types of buildings and can range from small systems for homes or larger systems for commercial facilities.

Tick Tock Energy provides turn-key solar project development from start to finish. We'll evaluate your site, size the appropriate system for your load, perform the installation, coordinate with the local utility company's interconnection requirements, and provide energy-monitoring equipment.  We make it easy for you!

10 kW Bergey Wind Turbines for Home and Farm A 10 kW Bergey is a great option for rural homes and farms or small businesses and schools. As a Bergey Dealer we are factory trained to install and service your wind system. Our comprehensive service includes evaluating your utility history, evaluating your site for wind energy generation potential, financial analysis, turn-key project installation and on-going inspections and maintenance support. Since wind turbine power output typically increases the higher off the ground the turbine is located, we normally only recommend 100-foot up to 140-foot tower options, though 60-foot and 80-foot also exist. Project price will vary based on tower types.

50 kW to 750 kW Wind Turbines for Business, Municipalities, and Schools
If your facility is located in a windy area and has annual electricity costs of at least $10,000 per year, you have a candidate site for a larger wind turbine in the 50 to 750 kW capacity range. These wind turbines offer a great on-site "green" power generation option for businesses, schools, municipalities, large farms and other applications. Tick Tock Energy can provide turn-key development and installation along. Let us start with a detailed energy analysis of your facility to optimize the best solution for your site.

Energy Management Services (MANAGE)

Continuous energy management is fundamental for keeping your utility costs low and under control.  If your internal resources are stretched thin, Tick Tock Energy can serve as your Energy Manager and offer multiple products and services to conserve and manage energy and reduce the rate you pay for energy.

Electric Submetering & Energy Monitoring
Could you run your business without an accounting staff?  Of course not!  Similarly, why rely on just one utility meter for electricity and one for natural gas or other utilities?  Information is power and in turn reveals information about where energy is used, how much, when, etc.  Tick Tock Energy can devise a cost-effective facilitiy energy metering hardware and software plan that can provide real-time energy reporting to help you manage your plant energy use better.  Information offers clarity on where to invest time and financial resources for further energy project investments.  MANAGE - without this strategy in place, you may struggle as energy prices rise and new energy loads creep up over time.

3rd Party Electricity Commodity Procurement
If your facility is in a state that has completed deregulation, you may qualify to purchase your power for a 3rd party commodity supplier instead of your traditional utility company.  This is a "no-cost" option for potentially lowering the rate you pay for energy immediately.  Please inquire further about this service to see if your facility qualifies.

Energy Incentives / Grants / Financing

Utility Incentives, Energy Tax Incentives, Custom Grants, Project Financing and Creative Buying Programs.  We identify and assist obtain financing options and other solutions which can lower your project cost and boost your cashflow.

The programs we have experties include:

  • EPACT tax incentive
  • Federal Energy Investment Tax Credits
  • Illinois Clean Energy Foundation (ICEF) grant
  • Ameren's Act on EnergyTM program
